Seven days on e-bike to discover Tuscany and feel fit. An active experience, fun, deep, tasty but above all full of emotions. We will leave from Lucca and arrive in Radicofani following the Via Francigena, an ancient unpaved path that connects small villages and medieval towns steeped in art and history. Every day you will breathe new scents, learn new colours in a crescendo of sensations that you will fall in love with.
80% of the route is on dirt roads (dirt roads and trails) surrounded by Tuscan nature and away from traffic. Only short stretches of asphalt on secondary roads. The hilly route is easily overcome even by the less trained thanks to the powerful e-bikes. The tour is also suitable for children from the age of 14.
A flat stretch characterised by the many historical and religious buildings encountered along the way: the city walls and amphitheater of Lucca, the Pieve di Capannori, the Badia di Pozzeveri, the church of S. Jacopo and the historic center of Altopascio.
Gorgeous stop. Shortly after San Minato, the route unwinds through the hilly ridges of the Val d'Elsa and enchants with its extraordinary beauty. The visit to the sanctuary of Pancole is interesting. The arrival in San Gimignano by bike is spectacular: emerging from a small road, the medieval towers surprise with their timeless charm; a visit to the village is a must.
Top stop in Monteriggioni; the road that leads us to the castle is dotted with ups and downs that ring a series of ancient hamlets where time has stood still. Behind a small hill, peeks Monteriggioni's unmistakable crown of towers. The entrance to Siena is triumphant, charged with emotion. With bike in hand, we will walk the last few meters to Piazza del Campo; what an achievement!
The scenery changes again; we are in the realm of white roads and the Crete Senesi, which with their colours and soft lines have helped make Tuscany known throughout the world.
Today we are dedicated to relaxing and no pedalling! The imperative is sun, baths, a good read and great food to regain energy.
We resume our bike tour, today still Crete Senesi and boundless landscapes on the Val d'Orcia, we will find abbeys, parish churches and medieval villages along the way, like a journey through the history of this land. Point of arrival is Pienza.
The last leg of this itinerary continues to offer incredible surprises. We will ride along a stretch of dirt road made famous for being the backdrop in some scenes of Ridley Scott's film "The Gladiator" and then ride along a flat stretch until the last climb leading to Radicofani, which will offer us a fantastic panorama, the last act of this itinerant bicycle touring experience.
