Tuscany is one of Italy’s most beloved regions for tourists, both Italian and especially foreign. Famous all over the world for its rolling hills, its cities of art, its ancient villages and, last but not least, for its fine wines.
Speaking of wines, the binomial Chianti and Tuscany is perhaps the oldest, but how can we not mention other excellences such as Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino, among the most appreciated in the world.
Uniting these three great reds is Sangiovese, Tuscany’s princely grape variety.
The e-bike route, in a loop, takes place on dirt and country roads with little traffic.
Suitable for everyone even those who do not normally ride bikes and with climbs that are all surmountable using e-bikes.
**On request there is an option without the use of e-bikes, the tour will take place completely by van and only some sections will be covered on foot (perfect for those with small children)
Our tour takes place in a handkerchief of land that stretches along the Etruscan Coast, at the center of which is the small village of Bolgheri. Bolgheri's wine making history is as young as it is extraordinary, and its wines have managed to conquer the top ranks of world rankings in a very short time, "challenging" the famous Doc and Docg wines by stepping outside the box of their specifications, substituting or adding to the Sangiovese grape variety, other grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and some Merlot. This is how Sassicaia was born, thanks to the will and intuition of Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, but it was not until the late 1960s, when Piero Antinori, cousin of the marquis and a great wine expert, began to market the first bottles of Sassicaie and Tignanello (another wine that has made Bolgheri's history). They were followed by other producers such as Grattamacco and Ornellaia who also introduced other international grape varieties with Petit Verdot and Syrah. The final "consecration" came in the mid-1980s, when the English journalist Nicholas Belfrage, first used the term SUPER TUSCAN to identify wines from the Bolgheri area and beyond.
It will be an experience to be enjoyed cycling along the small country roads that wind from the sea to the hills, an up and down between vineyards and views of the Tuscan coast and on the horizon the island of Elba, Capraia and on clear days Corsica. We will have e-bikes that will allow anyone to experience the thrill of feeling part of those places, of hearing certain sounds and scents that only with a bicycle you can perceive. During our route we will visit some of the most important wineries in the area where we will have the opportunity to visit their cellars and taste their wines, including the Super Tuscans. Lunch break at the Tenuta San Guido wine shop where we will be able to taste Sassicaia. Can't miss a visit to the small village of Bolgheri, which we will reach by walking along the very famous cypress avenue mentioned by the poet in one of his most beautiful poems "In front of San Guido."
**Transfer service to and from the hotel and for all transfers to Bolgheri in the option without e-bike
**On request possibility to add a second winery with related tasting (extra)
