An e-bike tour of the hills where Chianti Classico is produced, in the area stretching from Florence to Siena. The hills are painted by the rows of vines, while history traces its origins back to Etruscan times. Numerous villages, castles, parish churches and abbeys are the mark that man has left as evidence of a “past” rich in history.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Mix of nature trails, among vineyards, on paved roads and dirt roads, with tastings and routes to discover ancient villages and abbeys and castles
Our tour starts from Greve in Chianti, hometown of Giovanni da Verrazzano, explorer and navigator who was the first European to explore the Atlantic coast, now the United States, and to enter the New York Bay. The bridge in the bay, the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge, was dedicated to him. Every year on April 17 Verrazzano Day is celebrated in New York and at the Castello di Verrazzano in Greve in Chianti. We will also visit the magnificent village of Montefioralle and then pedal along the white roads made famous by the Eroica historical cycling tour to Badia di Passignano with a visit to the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo. We resume cycling on the rolling hills to return to Greve in Chianti and then continue to Castello di Verrazzano. Here, guided tour of the castle and wineries. At the end lunch and tasting of their wines.
