By e-bike to discover the island of Neverland, the eighth pearl of the Tuscan Archipelago, now known as the promontory of Monte Argentario joined to the mainland by two strips of land, the tombolo of Giannella and the tombolo of Feniglia, within which lies the wonderful lagoon of Orbetello.
We will also visit the natural oasis of Lake Burano, the first protected area established in Italy by the WWF in 1980, a landscape where nature has remained unchanged with breathtaking views of the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago where you can taste the flavours of the past.
There will be two loop tours of 50 and 30 km in length, and the routes will consist of dirt and paved roads with little traffic, bike paths, with climbs in some places challenging, all easily overcome with the use of e-bikes, and flat sections.
Arrival and accommodation in hotel/b&b and free afternoon. In the evening briefing of the trip with the guide, e-bike delivery and dinner at hotel restaurant with fixed menu based on local 0 km products.
We begin our tour to discover the promontory of Monte Argentario, today we will take the full tour thanks to the spectacular scenic road that runs along the entire coast connecting Porto Santo Stefano to the oldest village of Porto Ercole. The road, a scenic one, will surprise us pedal after pedal, we will visit externally Forte Filippo, the Fortress and Forte Stella. Cycling on this road is a unique pleasure with views overlooking the sea, the islands of the Tuscan archipelago and the remains of numerous coastal watchtowers. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner in a typical restaurant with a set menu based on local products at km 0.
The second tour starts from Orbetello, which is located exactly in the center of the lagoon by the same name, an important town already known in Etruscan and Roman times, until it became the seat of the Stato dei Presidi, which also included all of Monte Argentario.
We will ride along a section of bicycle path towards Porto Ercole and then detour to the Tombolo della Feniglia, one of the two tongues of sand that unite the mainland and the Argentario promontory. We will drive along a dirt road immersed in the centuries-old pine forest where it is possible to spot fallow deer, roe deer and wild boar living in the wild.
Once in Ansedonia we will climb for a short stretch and then descend again and follow the beautiful via Litoranea in the direction of Lake Burano, the wonderful WWF oasis where we can admire the many species of birds that live or stop there during their migrations (flamingos, black-winged stilts, herons, osprey, etc.).
Once the visit is over we will complete the loop along the lagoon to return to Orbetello mid-afternoon and end our trip.
